To paraphrase an aphorism, 'opinions on Bavarian uniforms colours are like assholes; everyone's got one'. Shades seem to go from marginally lighter than French Indigo, to Sky Blue, with all shades in-between. One of the likely historical reasons for this is the absence of chemical dyes until the mid 19th century, hence all notions of fixed uniform colours are pretty much moot prior to that point. Dyes would vary with mix, composition, period of soak, drying methodologies, and other factors; not to mention wear and tear. In the end I opted for something roughly of this intermediate shade:
